I’ll be reflecting over the action-packed month past and talking about the future - I feel a bit like a fortune teller after saying that. On with the show!
July Highlights
The past month had some of the most anticipated events of the Polar Bear Calendar featuring Formula One and our final weekend of the Cricket World Cup Fanzone tour in Trafalgar Square for the final of the Cricket World Cup where we saw England bring home the trophy. As the official supplier of bars for the Fanzones, we couldn’t have hoped for a better atmosphere and outcome of the weekend. Some people even used the secret password from last months blog!
F1 week was as great as ever. Our Polar Bear family grew to new sizes once again, as we welcomed lots of newcomers to the celebration (a celebration is a scientific name for a group of Polar Bears - bet you didn’t know that did you). It is always an action-packed few days and the team at HQ are always astounded by the hard work and dedication our Polar Bears show throughout the event. To top off the week we crowned our Formula One King and Queen! To receive the crown for King or Queen is one of the highest accolades for a Polar Bear; it is a recognition of dedicated and hard-working members of the team. This year we crowned our first same-sex king and queen… after all, it is 2019. Both Nico and Marcus displayed this throughout the Formula One week, spending a full week on-site and putting their best foot forward throughout.
We wrapped up the month with a successful weekend at the notorious Classic Car event at Silverstone, which saw a bit of rain, shine and quite a few pints.
The Upcoming Month..
We’re back at Twickenham stadium this month as the national team prepares for this years World Cup in Japan. We’ll be at both England vs Wales on the 11th and England vs Ireland on the 24thproviding a range of bars from your standard Guinness offering right through to specialist Gin and ale bars.
To add to all the fun we also have the Festival of Beer on the 17th and 18th, it’s back and bigger than ever! To check out the finer details visit their website: www.thefestivalofbeer.co.uk. This is sure to be a really exciting event for us, as every year it evolves into something greater than the last! The Festival sees our sister company, Blackpit Brewery, team up with a collection of local, national and international brands to deliver an extremely engaging event for customers. Pig racing, hidden woodland escapes and over 21 specialist bars across the site.
If you haven't already got your tickets, use the code 'polarfam' for 20% off!
Lastly, but certainly not least, we have Moto GP… It is sure to be a great way to spend the bank holiday weekend at the last big Silverstone Woodlands event of the season. Of course, it may be a little interesting on the weather front so Polar Bears should be prepared for all eventualities. Wellies and suncream make an excellent pairing.

Industry Updates:
The first week of August has seen the Great British Beer Festival fling open its doors to the public. Though this year they’ve made a statement by announcing that drinks with names deemed sexist are banned at this year's festival. Beverages with names such as Dizzy Blonde, Slack Alice and Leg-Spreader have been prohibited as well as time being called on Beer Pump Clips with suggestive female artwork such as a pin-up model. This came after CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) found the 68% of women would be unlikely to buy a beer if it was advertised in a sexist way. It is a message to the UK beer market that everyone is welcome and a great step in the right direction to make women feel more welcome in the beer world.
Polar has always and will always welcome everyone with open arms; seeing this movement in the right direction within the beverage market helps create a stronger and more diverse audience for the Polar family to serve.
Polar Picks:
Our Event Coordinator Hannah, has hopped on the sustainable wares train with the new addition of reusable straws this month!
A great addition to any beverage, a reusable straw is a great way to pitch in to reducing waste even more so than the switch to paper straws!
